Changing is never easy… for anyone. And we at brain+trust partners have been helping brands and individuals evolve the changing landscape of business for many years. Helping businesses strategize and relevantly connect with their customers is what we love to do!

In just a few short years, brands learned to connect to customers through the power of digital and social; powerful analytics like location, preferences, relationships, and more are used by companies in unprecedented ways. In addition, some companies began engaging in crowdsourcing, crowdfunding, and crowd-innovation to build customer loyalty and advocacy. Others are producing podcasts, exploring live video, and becoming “snappers” on Snapchat. The creativity and possibility is in rapid succession.

It’s certainly an exciting time to be in business!

And these changes have another side – the roles of individuals behind much of this is transforming too.

HOW IS BUSINESS CHANGING?

These evolving business trends are creating changes in the employer and employee relationships. New roles, tools, and expertise is needed… almost in real-time.

Yet, everyone’s busy… so, so busy.

That’s why we created a company that can guide brands and individuals to be successful in this new world of opportunity.

HERE’S HOW COMPANIES CAN BENEFIT

As we’ve already witnessed through Lyft, Taskrabbit, GrubHub, Upwork and the like, we’ve become comfortable with an on-demand world. Now, that same transformation is being echoed throughout the full-time workforce–where roles within companies are being parsed and outsourced to contractors. In the effort to be more cost-effective, companies lean on technology to create networks of dispersed contractors – the “gigification” of roles.
Companies can search the globe for the best talent, exclusively pay on a per-project basis, and implement automation, smart machines, and artificial intelligence to replace people for repetitive work. For companies, this distribution of teams, access to specialists, and savings of benefits, taxes, and space is most advantageous.
Less full-time jobs, more contractors.

Will your company engage, manage, and

retain this continually shifting workforce?

But with every opportunity, there are threats as well.

HERE’S HOW COMPANIES MAY LOSE

The speed at which roles within companies are turning over is increasing. In the latest Employee Tenure Summary done by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median time a salaried employee stays at a role is 4.2 years. And among workers ages 25 to 34 years, that number dips to only 2.8 years.
With contract employees come:

  • massive challenges for the protection of intellectual property,
  • limited access to contracting professionals when they are on other assignments,
  • difficulty in managing and motivating these individuals from a distance, especially the growing millennial workforce.

And what about those millennials? According to a recent Deloitte study: The millennial majority is transforming your culture:

  • Only one-third of millennials feel they are making the most of their skills.
  • Twenty-five percent of millennials said that the main barrier to innovation is the attitude of senior management.
  • More than 33% stated a lack of investment in R&D is the reason for stalled innovation

How will your company effectively contend with these

dispersed teams of contractors and millennials?

HOW INDIVIDUALS CAN BENEFIT

What then happens if or when your role is transitioned to a contracting position?
In the full report of this years’ ADP Evolution of Work research, we learn that employees can:

  • work from anywhere in the world.
  • can do all of their work from a mobile device.
  • define their own work schedule, based on what is convenient and effective for them.
  • use technology to learn anything, anytime, anywhere.

HERE’S HOW INDIVIDUALS MAY LOSE

At the same time, new contractors will be faced with having to manage their own personal brand, reputation, and network. They will have to face the liability of healthcare, taxes and continual learning.

HERE’S WHAT BRAIN+TRUST PARTNERS HAS FOUND TO BE SUCCESSFUL

First, we are these contractors. And success in this space is found in three areas:

  1. Specialization – continual learning and refining

We’re serving our clients as a team. Fronted by five partners with unique skillsets, we additionally incorporate an expanse network of other specialists and experts.
